Colin began fishing in his early teens, fishing every chance he got. He started his fly fishing career in earnest in 1999 after graduating from high school, allowing him the time to start fly-tying and exploring the more adventurous parts of South Africa. He graduated from RAU University in 2003 with a degree in journalism, and worked as a photo-journalist for numerous publications, honing his skill in his other passion - photography.

After returning from a two and a half year stint in the United Kingdom, Colin started working at Frontier Fly Fishing, and his fishing style and approach to everything regarding fly-fishing has been greatly influenced by members of the Frontier Staff.

In his pursuit of fish on fly, Colin has fished extensively in South Africa, chased trout in the United Kingdom, and cut his saltwater fly-fishing teeth in Mozambique. As a favourite destination he would recommend Lesotho for those not afraid of roughing it a little. Colin’s preferred target species is trout, and wherever possible, fishes large stillwaters where the ever-elusive 10 pounder could be lurking.
